The biggest musical concert on the event’s calendar, “GHANA meets NAIJA” returns in its fourth year, with an even bigger and more exciting package for music fans in both Ghana and Nigeria.
Over the years, Ghana Meets Naija has been known as the platform for the biggest artistes in both Ghana and Nigeria to share one stage and thrill music lovers from both countries.
This year’s edition slated for Saturday 24th May 2014 at the Accra International Conference Centre is set to feature performances from Nigeria’s finest acts like Davido, Kcee and Wizboyy; and from Ghana will be represented by Sarkodie, Guru and Castro.
With these set of artistes, the story of a preempted success is already getting the nation grip. We bring to you an in-depth profile of the acts for the night.

SARKODIE:

He is also referred to as ‘Obidi Pon Bidi’. He is arguably one of Ghana’s finest talents on the bloc. He is a recording artist, entertainer, and brand ambassador. In 2012, he won the BET Awards for “Best
International Act Africa”. Many Ghanaians recognize him as one of the Ghana’s leading hip hop and hip life artiste in the country.
He is considered one of the major proponents of the Azonto genre. Sarkodie often raps in his native language; Twi, and is considered a “multifaceted rapper” due to the various musical styles he possess.
In 2010, Sarkodie received many awards and nominations ranging from “Artist of the Year” to “Album of the Year”.
His sophomore album, Rapperholic, was the recipient of 3 Ghana Music Awards from 12 nominations. He is a brand ambassador for Samsung Mobile. In 2013, he signed an endorsement deal with FanMilk Ghana. Sarkodie is currently in partnership with Tigo Telecommunications Ghana, a brand that sponsored the 2013 Rapperholic tour. He has his own clothing line called “Sark by Yas clothing line”.
He was ranked 8th on Forbes and Channel O’s 2013 list of the Top 10 Richest African Artistes. He is the first ever Ghanaian to win the “Best International Act: Africa” at the BET Awards. Sarkodie has had the privilege of performing on the same stage with international musicians such as T-Pain, Movado, Trey Songz, and Ludacris among others. He has a large fan base in Africa and is considered one of the most celebrated musical icons to hail from Ghana.
He has to his credit three albums: 2009: Makye, 2012: Rapperholic, 2014: Sarkology, and a collaboration album with Jayso in 2013 titled: T.M.G.
We are very sure that Sarkodie will surely be performing his hit collabo ‘Adonai’ with Castro on the night.

GURU:

GURU, whose birth name is Nana Yaw Adjei Yeboah Maradona, is not a new kid to Ghana rap game. He has over the years churned out hit songs from Obrafuor’s controversial single “Kasiebo”, and one of Ghana’s current trending song ‘Boys Abre’, which he featured the hilarious Lil Wyn.
Guru has brilliant lyrics message which usually cut across and ear friendly to both kids and adults. Songs like “Nkwadaa Nkwadaa” was for the kids, while Mmakuo is targeted at his adult audience, “Lapaz Toyota” for the lovers, “Boys Abre” for all those going through hardship.
In a recent interview he granted, he said, “I only want to share my ideas, opinions and view of whatever it is about this life that influences a large group, how you decide to relate to the songs is your own to decide. I put just a little of my experiences in my song and even most of it.
I won’t talk about the glorious aspect, I will share the downside because already you are famous and people expect things to be a bit easier for you, telling them in every song life is good for you is not fair, let them know you are human and go through hard times too.”
Guru who is rumoured to likely cart away at least three awards at the forth coming Vodafone Ghana Music Award is expected to rock the stage with so much thrills his fans knows him for.

CASTRO:

Castro is another talent and famous Ghanaian artistes who has proved to be indomitable in the entertainment industry, despite fierce competition in Ghana entertainment industry. He has proven to be a musician for all seasons. His consistency is awesome and he has proven it over and over again with his professional and admirable stage crafts.
He’s been through the many ‘phases’ of contemporary Ghanaian music; experimenting with almost every sub genre that was once in vogue.
His striking partnership with Asamoah Gyan on “African Girls” is still one of the most talked about piece. Again with Asamoah and Kofi Kinaata on “Odo Pa”, he has shown that he is a bundle of talent. His current effort with Sarkodie on “Adonai” according to music enthusiast will undoubtedly add some excellence to the output of the song.

With those who were at the Accra International Conference Centre over the weekend for the Basket mouth comedy show, they concluded that Castro’s performance as one of the acts was off the hook. Hopefully we hope to have another dose of such energetic young man come up on 24th of May, 2014.

DAVIDO:

The “Aye” crooner is set to bring down the roofs of the Accra International Conference Centre with his latest hits which has obviously taking Ghana by storm since its release.
Born David Adedeji Adeleke, is the boss of HKN Music, a recording artist, performer, and record producer. He has churned out various hit songs and also won various awards for his efforts.
Among the awards are Kora Awards, a Channel O Music Video Awards, a Nigeria Music Video Awards, The Headies awards (3), four Nigeria Entertainment Awards, and two Dynamix All Youth Awards, among others.
Songs like “Dami Duro”, “Ekuro”, “Gobe”, “Skelewu”, and current hit single “Aye” will be performed by the Omo Baba Olowo (The son of a rich man) on the night.

KCEE:

Afro-pop star, Kcee with birth name Kingsley Okonkwo will also be making his first appearance on Ghanaian stage, and will be expected to thrill with his numerous hits churned out over the years including “Limpopo” and “Pull Over” which is currently a dance staple.
Kcee who got into the music scene from way back in the early 2000s have never looked back till date. He has released so many hit singles even as a member of a group, with fellow group mate Presh. Some of the hits then included: “Segemenge” and “Shokori bobo”.
But come the night of 24th May, he will be rocking the audience with his “Limpopo” tune which became an instant hit in its first two weeks of release. His charming stage craft and beat will no doubt hold the crowd spell

WIZBOYY:

Wizboyy also known as Isioma Ofuasia is a fast rising, multi-talented Nigerian Gospel/Highlife singer, producer, choral director, instrumentalist and label executive.
He has performed at numerous shows and churches in Nigeria and abroad. He’s best known for his hit singles such as “Screensaver”, “Owu Sa Gi”, “Infinity” and “Fotojenik”, and his current banger, “Wizolingo”
Wizboyy is a role model to many young Nigerians and has worked with artistes such as Flavour, J.Martins, Bracket, Spaceman, 9ice, Vector and Ice Prince to mention but a few.
The Afro Pop/Urban highlife singer and C.E.O of ‘No Tyme Records’ is ready to make all dancing feet respond to the jams and tunes he will be churning out on the 24th of May, 2014 night.
As it stands now, the stage is getting ready as this would therefore mean an equal platform to decide ‘WHO IS WHO’ between Nigerian and Ghanaian artistes, taking place at the Accra International Conference Centre.
